The purport of the message was clear, but the signature puzzled me.

The following day I showed this writing to a friend, asking her if she had any idea who X was.

Letters From a Living Dead Man Classic Reprint Elsa Barker 9781334726507 Books

This is the first in a reprint of a series of three books that were published in the early 1900's. Elsa Barker claimed to have "automatic writing" sessions where she channelled a deceased judge who she had known in life. Her first session of automatic writing happened before she had been notified of his death, and she wasn't particularly interested in cooperating with the "spirit". The judge described life after death and his impressions of the afterlife in a number of sessions with her. He was quite frank that he wouldn't continue the sessions if she was uninterested and that they wouldn't last for a particularly long time. This book was published around 1914 or 1915. He writes on different subjects, such as the effect of grief on the person who has passed, or the lack of change of personality after a person has passed over, and discusses the concept of reincarnation frequently. Although the writing style is a bit old fashioned, I found this short book to be quite interesting and a nice addition to the large body of literature regarding the hereafter.

Letters From a Living Dead Man Classic Reprint Elsa Barker 9781334726507 Books Reviews

this is a book you can't put down its a fascinating account of life after death.....everyone needs to know what happens on the other side of life especially those who fear death.....I could go on, but I wont , I don't want to spoil it for you...we live in a grand adventure and it never stops
It was an very old hardcover book with out a jacket as they did not have them
in 1914 with yellowing pages not what I expected.
Old is ok if you are notified in advanced of it's existing condition.
The material was good.
If this book not change the way you look at death than nothing will. Life goes on and on and this is a great affirmation of that fact. So many lessons to learn and I suggest reading just a chapter at a time.
Fascinating book! Love the perspective from 1914!
This book reaffirms my visitations from past loved ones. Straight and to the point, LETTERS FROM A LIVING DEAD MAN certainly deserves to be a classic! Timely delivery, perfect shape. Thank you.
Weird cover...but fascinating book. I have since read the third book in the trilogy and loved it even more. There are passages in these books, particularly the third book, that read as if they are being given in this time period, not the mid 1900's. Amazing insights and advice from the Judge are timely and eternal...I'm so glad I "stumbled" onto these after the death of a loved one.
I love this book. Insider information from the next dimension. It's like a travel manual for the afterlife. I'm half-way through this one and can't wait to read the other book.

You just have to keep in mind that it was written in a different era and the language can be a little confusing. I just found that if I just read on and don't get hung up in language it all makes sense in the end. The spirit guide is trying to pass on a ton of information in a short space so some ideas are not fleshed out - but that's where our imagination takes over (just as he suggests).

Love it - but it is in alignment with a lot of my current beliefs. Some surprises and some delights were revealed - enough to peak my interest for more.
